Faculty of Technology emerges the Second Runner-up of the Interfaculty Drama Competition - 2020
The Faculty of Technology, University of Ruhuna emerged the second runner-up of the Interfaculty Drama Competition organised by the Cultural Centre, University of Ruhuna to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of the Late Mahatma Gandhi. The competition was held on the 06th of March 2020, at the Rabindranath Tagore Auditorium of the university. The chief guest of the event was Mr. Prem K. Nair, Consul General of India, Hambantota whereas the guest of honour was Senior Professor Sujeewa Amarasena, the Vice-Chancellor of the university. It was an evening of absolute talent, as the Vice-Chancellor precisely remarked in his heart-touching and encouraging speech.
The drama titled, 'Punaragamanaya: The Return of Mahatma Gandhi', staged by the Faculty of Technology was well received by the audience and the panel of judges alike that the team was awarded the trophy for the second runner-up. The drama was admired by Mr. Prem K. Nair, Consul General of India, Hambantota for its creative concept of bringing Mahatma Gandhi to the 21st century. The students were more than happy to have Senior Professor W. G. D. Dharmaratna, their former Dean in the audience to witness their talents. The Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Fisheries & Marine Technology emerged first runner-up and champion of the competition respectively.
