Under the instructions and guidance of Dr. Thissa Karunarathna, Head of the Department, the Department of Biosystems Technology successfully conducted a workshop for GCE Advanced Level students studying Biosystems Technology in the Matara Education Zone. The program was coordinated by Dr. Wathsala Rajawatta, Senior Lecturer of the Department, with the support and assistance of all academic and non-academic staff members of the Department.
The workshop was attended by 80 students representing 10 schools, along with around 10 teachers from the Matara Education Zone. The program aimed to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding of Biosystems Technology through both theoretical discussions and practical exposure related to the subject area.
During the workshop, students were provided with valuable learning opportunities to improve their academic and practical skills in Biosystems Technology. The sessions were conducted interactively, encouraging active participation, discussion, and engagement among the participants. Teachers who attended the program also gained insights into current developments and applications in the field of Biosystems Technology.
The event was completed successfully with enthusiastic participation from both students and teachers, reflecting the Department’s commitment to supporting school-level education and promoting awareness of Biosystems Technology among future learners.
