First International Academic Visit to IIT Madras, India

Marking an important milestone in the Faculty’s international academic engagement, a group of students representing each department, together with academic staff members from the Faculty of Technology, University of Ruhuna, participated in an academic visit to the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), India. This was the first international academic visit of its kind organized for a combined group of students and staff of the Faculty.

The academic staff members who participated in the visit were Dr. K.H.T. Karunarathna, Dr. Niranjan Kannangara, Mr. P.H.P.N. Laksiri, Ms. Shakya Rathnaikage, Ms. Hasini Ganege, and Mr. Chanaka Weerarathne.

During the visit, the participants had opportunities to explore IIT Madras’s academic, research, and technological facilities and gain exposure to advanced research, innovation, and educational practices. The visit also provided valuable opportunities for academic interaction and knowledge exchange, strengthening the Faculty’s international exposure and laying a foundation for future academic engagements.
