The first-ever Staff Talent Show of the Faculty of Technology, University of Ruhuna, was successfully held on 20 January 2026 at the Faculty Auditorium.This initiative was a concept of the Dean, Prof. Subash Jayasinghe, aiming to create a platform that celebrates the creativity and hidden talents of the Faculty community.

The Faculty of Technology successfully held the "TECHNO SPIRITS" Staff Sports Meet on 08th January 2026, at the University Gymnasium with enthusiastic participation of all the staff.

The ICT Students’ Circle of the Faculty of Technology, University of Ruhuna, successfully organized HackTrail 2.0, an overnight hackathon, on the 21st and 22nd of August 2024. The event brought together 75 enthusiastic undergraduates, grouped into 15 teams, who competed to develop innovative solutions for the given problem statement.

Dr. Kaushalya Wijayasekara, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biosystems Technology, has been awarded the 2024 Investigator-Driven Research Grant by the National Research Council (NRC), marking the first such achievement for the Faculty of Technology.

A group of students from the Faculty of Technology attended a training session offered by the District Agricultural Training Center-Kamburupitiya for the purposes of the projects on mushroom production process. The visit was led by Dr. Wathsala Rajawatta and Ms. Sanjeewani Thilakarathna.
