On 02nd September 2026, the Department of Engineering Technology, Faculty of Technology, University of Ruhuna, successfully conducted an External Evaluation session as part of its ongoing efforts towards obtaining professional accreditation from the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) for its Engineering Technology Degree Programme.
The evaluation session was conducted with the participation of Dr. Thusitha Sugathapala, External Examiner from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa.
The session provided an important opportunity for an independent review of the academic programme and constructive discussions with the academic staff of the Department. Key areas, including the curriculum structure, programme learning outcomes, assessment and evaluation methods, student performance, laboratory and learning facilities, academic resources, industry engagement and continuous quality improvement processes, were reviewed and discussed.
The valuable observations and constructive recommendations provided by the External Examiner will contribute towards further strengthening the Engineering Technology Degree Programme and supporting the Department’s continuous efforts to meet the required academic and professional standards for IESL accreditation.
