Gold Medal
The invention titled “Biodegradable Dining Plate from Local Almond Leaves (Terminalia catappa)” received the Gold Medal in the Open Category.
The invention was developed by P. M. T. Gunarathna, K. M. W. Rajawatta, K. M. C. Fernando, and B. M. A. Deemantha.
Bronze Medal
The invention titled “Roasted and Salted Kottamba Nuts” received a Bronze Medal in the Open Category.
The invention was developed by G. L. H. R. Navodya, K. M. W. Rajawatta, K. M. C. Fernando, G. S. N. Fernando, and H. K. M. R. N. Thilakaratne.
Bronze Medal
The invention titled “Development of a Sweet Mixed-Spicy Jam from Ripened Jackfruit and Ripened Banana Pepper” received a Bronze Medal in the University Category.
The invention was developed by K. S. Kavindya, K. M. W. Rajawatta, and K. N. Wijayasekara.
The Ruhuna Invention and Innovation Exhibition awards were received in September 2024. The competition was jointly organized by the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission, University of Ruhuna, SPIDA, and the Southern Province Education Department.
These achievements reflect the Department’s continued commitment to research excellence, innovation, sustainability, and the development of practical technologies that benefit society.
