Silver Award at Sahasak Nimavum 2024 – National Inventions and Innovations Competition

The Department of Biosystems Technology, Faculty of Technology, University of Ruhuna, received the Silver Award in the Universities and Tertiary Educational Institutions category under the Food Technology technical field at Sahasak Nimavum 2024 – National Inventions and Innovations Exhibition and Competition.

The award-winning invention, titled “Development of a Sweet and Spicy Mixed Jam from Ripened Jackfruit and Banana Pepper,” was developed by S. Kavindya, K. M. W. Rajawatta, and K. N. Wijayasekara.

The national-level competition was organized by the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission under the purview of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The award was received on 26 June 2026.

This prestigious achievement highlights the Faculty’s commitment to innovation, research excellence, and the development of impactful technologies. It also reflects the continued dedication of our staff and students to advancing research and innovation in Food Technology and Biosystems Technology.
